Be Honest: Embracing Where You Are Right Now

Good Grief
December 22, 2019

Hello ladies. We’re inching closer to the holidays and for some of us that truth is a beautiful thing. But, for many of us, it represents; anxiety, pain, grief and even striving. Going above and beyond our capacity and not stewarding our time or our hearts well. And, if there’s anything that God cares for, it’s our hearts.

In Luke Chapter 10:38-42 we get to read and discover quite a story of what happens in the contrast of overworking and resting:

38-40 “...Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. “Master, don’t you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand.”

41-42 The Master said, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her.”

Have you been a Mary or a Martha during the holidays? Have you done so much shopping, cleaning, setting up and planning that you’ve completely missed the beauty of resting in our Father’s arms? Have you missed the special moments with your kids or family and friends that could have only happened when you were fully present with them? Have you lost your awe and wonder for what Jesus did for us in this season?

Well, go get it back. It’s time girls. It’s time to delight in the wonder of the holidays again. It’s time to be fully alive in the gift that Jesus laid down for us years ago...His life. The only thing that is essential. The pathway that Jesus created for us to be able to dwell in the peaceful presence of our savior. The reminder that we are so worthy in the eyes of the Father, no matter what, that He would gift us His only child. The dominion that we have over ourselves, our time and our hearts. The power that He put on the inside of us. It is time to reclaim that.

How you ask? Let us help you.

  1. Spend some quiet time with your savior now. Even if you're overwhelmed or feel too busy to do it. Start now. Start asking Him in what ways you can begin to make space for Him this holiday season and for your own heart.
  2. Let your family and friends know what you’re doing this year and how that may impact the holidays. A lot of times we hide behind our weaknesses and the people around us are unaware and can’t help. If you begin to open up and be vulnerable about where you’re at, space can be created for the people that love you the most to show up and help.
  3. And, be a Mary. Put your time with God above all else. Prioritize Him so that you can become more like Him. When you get close to the Father He’ll start to reveal ways that you can operate in His fruit. In love, in peace and in kindness. You’d be surprised at how much more delight your family and friends experience this holiday season because of it.

We’re excited to hear stories of redempted holidays and renewed hearts. You deserve that this year. You deserve to be fully in the presence of your Father and to revive your beautiful heart.
